Ancho Reyes Licor De Chile Poblano Verde

Ancho Reyes Licor de Chile Ancho is produced in Puebla, Mexico from ancho chiles — dried and smoked poblano peppers that are macerated in cane spirit for six months. The result is a dark bronze, medium-bodied chile liqueur with warm dried chile, cinnamon, and cocoa on the nose and a rich, velvety warmth on the palate at 40% ABV. The original expression in the Ancho Reyes range, launched in 2013.

Ancho chiles are fully ripened poblanos dried until they become wrinkled and nearly black. The drying and smoking process transforms the fresh pepper’s fruity heat into complex dried fruit, chocolate, and smoky spice. Six months of maceration in cane spirit extracts these compounds fully. In cocktail use, Ancho Reyes adds a distinctly Mexican chile character to Margaritas, Palomas, and mezcal-based drinks without adding the sharpness of fresh chile heat.
