Bozal — Spanish for "wild" or "untamed" — sources wild and semi-wild agave from the uncultivated lands of Oaxaca, Guerrero, and Durango, distilled in small batches by family-operated palenques. The Barril Reserva is produced by the ancestral method, the most traditional and labor-intensive way to make mezcal, using clay-pot distillation.
