Akashi Single Malt Whisky is a Japanese single malt from Eigashima Shuzo — the small ‘White Oak’ distillery near Kobe Bay holding Japan’s first whisky license (issued 1919). The Single Malt sits above the Blended expression in the Akashi range, drawing on the same Kobe Bay coastal maturation environment for a more concentrated saline-driven Japanese single malt character.

Eigashima Shuzo, founded in 1888, is one of Japan’s smallest whisky producers and one of the most historically significant — holding the country’s first whisky license predating the development of Japan’s major whisky houses. Premium whisky production began at scale in 1984, with the dedicated copper pot stills enabling the small-team artisanal approach that defines the brand.
