Kingsbarn Distillery offers Wemyss single casks

by Kristiane Sherry

Family-owned single malt Scotch bottler Wemyss Malts has released two new single cask Scotch expressions exclusively available from its Kingsbarn Distillery Visitor Centre.

The lowland distillery was founded by Douglas Clement and the Wemyss family, and opened on St Andrews Day 2014. Distilling started in January 2015, and Wemyss Malt whisky will be available at the distillery until Kingsbarn liquid comes of age. Produced specially for the visitor centre, the duo of single casks are East Neuk Dunes, a 25-year-old from Islay distillery Bunnahabhain, and Lime Tea Infusion, a 19-year-old expression from Glenrothes in Speyside. East Neuk Dunes – a name inspired by the shoreline – was distilledin 1990 and bottled in 2016 at 46% abv. Only 267 bottles have been made available, retailing at £139.95 each. Lime Tea Infusion was distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2016 also at 46% abv. The whisky retails at £84.95 with 337 bottles available. "Wemyss Malts has a tradition of finding exceptional single casks from Scotland's single malt distilleries and we have chosen these two whiskies to be sold only at Kingsbarns Distillery,” said William Wemyss, managing director at Kingsbarns Distillery and Wemyss Malts. “The aptly named East Neuk Dunes reflects the whisky's soft salty aroma, with only gentle smoke coming from this 25 year old single cask; while Lime Tea Infusion is a lively addition to the drams on our ‘Dream to Dram’ distillery tour." Both whiskies are available now at the Kingsbarn Distillery Visitor Centre and online shop.
