Old Carter Whiskey Co. is the project of Mark and Sherri Carter, who built Kentucky Owl into a cult brand before selling it in 2017 and starting again under their own name. They source and select mature Kentucky whiskey rather than distilling it, and every release goes out at barrel strength, non-chill filtered, with the barrel and bottle numbers written on the label by hand.

Barrels #54 and #55 came out of the same run at identical strength — both 58.85% ABV, both 117.7 proof — which almost never happens with single casks and makes the pair unusual to see together. They are still two separate barrels with two separate yields, and the whiskey in each is its own.
