Don Mateo de la Sierra Alto is a traditional Mexican mezcal from Don Mateo de la Sierra in Michoacán, Mexico — not the more familiar Oaxaca, but the lesser-known Michoacán agave-spirits tradition. Rich and smoky in the classic palenque style.

Michoacán is one of the seven Mexican states with formal Denominación de Origen status for mezcal production. Don Mateo de la Sierra produces small-batch traditional mezcals representative of the Michoacano agave-spirits style, distinct from the more widely exported Oaxacan tradition.
