The Original Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey
In the winter of 1881, Albert Bacon Blanton was born into one of the first families of bourbon history. At the age of sixteen, he started work in the Distillery as an office boy and fast became a leading pioneer in the development of bourbon. From the time he was made company president in 1921 until his retirement in 1952, his Distillery expanded from 44 to 144 buildings to become the largest Distillery of its day. During that period Colonel Blanton created his very special and limited supply of bourbon - his private reserve - handpicked and stored in what now is known as the famous Warehouse H. Although Colonel Blanton died in the spring of 1959, his legacy lives.
Introduced in 1984, Blanton’s namesake bourbon was the first ever Single Barrel Bourbon sold commercially. Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon is the first of its kind.
Blanton’s is distilled by Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, Kentucky. Blanton’s bourbon is distilled from a “high-rye” mash bill — meaning after the higher proportion of corn common in Buffalo Trace bourbons, the rest (or much of the rest) of the mash bill is made up of rye. Wheated whiskies like Weller Special Reserve, tend to be softer, a kick of rye in a mash bill tends to produce a bit more in the way of fruit and spice in the whiskey, which play nicely with caramel and char. Though it’s worth noting that the final flavor profile varies from barrel to barrel with this American bourbon.
Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon tasting notes: A deep, satisfying nose of nutmeg and spices. Powerful dry vanilla notes in harmony with hints of honey amid strong caramel and corn. A medium finish composed of returning corn and nutmeg flavors.

The Glencairn Whisky Glass is a revolutionary whiskey glass that really lets one savor the taste and complexity of fine whiskey. These are great to use for any of your Single Malt Whisky's, Irish Whiskey's, and also your single barrel bourbons. With the tapered mouth, you are able to really smell all of the nuances the whisky has to offer. Any malt advocate will love a Glencarin glass! Champagne, Brandy, Wine... each has its own glass. Yet whiskey, the world’s most complex spirit can be found served in anything from hi-ball tumblers to Paris goblets.
Glencairn Crystal solved the problem of identifying the ideal glass for whiskey, appropriately named the Glencairn Whiskey Glass. Designed by Raymond Davidson nearly 25 years earlier, its development involved pulling together the master blenders from the five largest whisky companies and asking them to perfect his initial design.
While the traditional style of whiskey glass is a cut crystal Old Fashioned whiskey tumbler, an iconic design that remains the most commonly used type of whisky glass. However, a tumbler does not hold and focus the aromas as much for the experience of the drinker as the other styles, which curve inwards towards the top of the glass. While not all drinkers may find the strong aroma produced by such glasses desirable, inward-curved glasses are often preferred by connoisseurs who consider the aroma especially important to the experience of a whiskey.
