Why does Tomatin 21 use refill rather than first-fill casks?

The master distiller selected refill casks to allow the natural Tomatin character from the Monadhliath Mountains maturation to be the primary expression. Refill casks provide integration and development without aggressive wood extraction that would mask the distillery’s natural character.
