The Macallan Edition No. 4

Edition No. 4. The Macallan — the fourth annual release in The Macallan’s Edition series, created in collaboration with master perfumer Roja Dove, who worked with The Macallan’s whisky maker to identify the aromatic qualities of the spirit and express them through cask selection.

The Edition series was launched in 2015 to present The Macallan in a non-age-statement format that foregrounds cask selection and production craft over maturation time. Each Edition is a collaboration with a different creative partner from outside whisky — Edition No. 1 with furniture designer Ilse Crawford, No. 2 with architect Rafael de Cárdenas, No. 3 with fashion designer Jonathan Anderson, and No. 4 with perfumer Roja Dove.

Roja Dove’s involvement in Edition No. 4 was specifically focused on the aromatic architecture of the whisky — using his perfumery expertise to identify and amplify the honey, cherry, and spice notes that define the edition’s character through targeted cask selection.
