Tun 1509 is a physical wooden marriage vessel — a large vat in The Balvenie's warehouse specifically used to combine exceptional casks and allow their characters to integrate over time before bottling. The Tun Marriage process is one of the most thoughtful in Speyside production: rather than simply blending at bottling time, the combined casks spend additional time together in the tun, developing a more unified and harmonious final expression.
