23 years. Barrel Proof. LDI — Lawrenceburg Distillers Indiana. One of the oldest and most significant expressions of Indiana-distilled rye whiskey available from any source, at natural barrel proof after 23 years of maturation in Lawrenceburg.
Lawrenceburg Distillers Indiana (LDI, later known as MGP Ingredients, now Ross & Squibb) was the single most important distillery in the American craft rye whiskey revival. For the first decade of the modern rye boom (roughly 2008–2018), the vast majority of American craft rye whiskey — including Templeton, High West, Bulleit Rye, WhistlePig, Redemption, and dozens of others — was sourced from LDI's Indiana facility.
A 23-year-old LDI barrel proof expression is extraordinarily rare — almost all LDI rye was sourced and bottled at 4–10 years of age during the craft rye era. Finding 23-year-aged LDI rye at natural barrel proof is among the most unusual American rye whiskey acquisitions possible. This is the oldest LDI expression in the current Wooden Cork catalog.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Why is 23-year LDI rye so significant? LDI was the source distillery for the majority of American craft rye whiskey during the revival era — but almost all of it was bottled at 4–10 years. Surviving intact barrels of 23-year LDI at natural proof represent rye whiskey that outlasted the entire era in which it was being sourced.
