Pelotón de la Muerte Mezcal Joven Artesanal is a traditional joven (unaged) mezcal artesanal — a clear, agave-forward expression from the brand whose label honors “El Doliente de Hidalgo,” the banner of the insurgent “squadron of death” in the Mexican War of Independence.

The Pelotón de la Muerte label depicts the historic flag that represented the insurgent army seeking justice after the execution of the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla: the red represents the blood of the leader, the black cross the mourning, and the bones honor his remains. The joven expression is bottled unaged to showcase the pure character of the agave and traditional production.
