Orphan Barrel Night Sage 25 Year Old Blended Canadian Whisky is the latest limited release from Diageo's Orphan Barrel project — a 25-year-old blended Canadian whisky drawn from barrels that have been maturing quietly for a quarter century, producing the butterscotch, vanilla, and toasted oak complexity that extended Canadian whisky aging develops, with brown sugar, walnut, and ripe figs emerging in the mid-palate and a warm dried fruit and oak finish.

The Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Co. was established by Diageo to release rare, aged whisky stocks that have been maturing in warehouses for decades — expressions that would otherwise remain unknown, bottled under evocative names that reflect their long, patient aging. Night Sage joins previous Orphan Barrel releases including Fable & Folly, Rhetoric, and Orphan Barrel Woven Honor as a limited-edition expression from a non-traditional whisky source country. Canadian whisky regulations require a minimum of three years of aging in small wood; at 25 years, Night Sage represents one of the oldest commercially released Canadian whisky expressions available, with the full complexity that a quarter century of maturation in barrel produces.
