Thirteen years old, 109 proof, non-chill filtered — drawn from just 17 barrels, all aged on the third floor of Rickhouse AA at Heaven Hill's historic Deatsville campus.

Most limited bourbon tells you the age and the proof. This one tells you the floor. All 17 barrels came off a single level of a single warehouse, which is about as narrow as a release gets — warehouse position drives maturation more than almost any other variable, so barrels from one floor of one rickhouse share conditions that barrels scattered across a campus never would.

Deatsville carries its own history. The site was originally associated with the T.W. Samuels Distillery before becoming an aging location for Heaven Hill, and its warehouses use a tiered-roof design that encourages natural airflow through the ricks. Whiskey matured there has gone into several Parker's Heritage Collection releases.

The whiskey is Heaven Hill's classic bourbon mashbill — 78% corn, 10% rye, 12% malted barley — bottled at 54.5% ABV without chill filtration. This is the first release in a multi-year series marking the Deatsville site.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Caramelized sugar, vanilla, seasoned oak, baking spice and dark fruit over toasted wood.
  • Palate: Rich and mature — deep caramel, vanilla, dark fruit and oak spice with the structure 109 proof provides.
  • Finish: Long and warming, with lingering oak, caramelized sweetness and mature Kentucky bourbon character.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why does naming the rickhouse and floor matter? Because position inside a warehouse shapes whiskey more than almost anything else. Upper floors run hotter and extract harder; lower floors stay cooler and slower. Pulling all 17 barrels from the third floor of one rickhouse means they matured under conditions close enough that the release has a coherent character rather than an averaged one.
  • What is the significance of Deatsville? The property was originally tied to the historic T.W. Samuels Distillery and later became an aging site for Heaven Hill. Its tiered-roof warehouses are built to encourage airflow through the ricks, and whiskey aged there has contributed to Parker's Heritage Collection releases.
  • What does non-chill filtered mean? Most whiskey is chilled and filtered before bottling to stop it hazing when cold. That also removes fatty acids and esters that carry flavour and texture. Skipping it means the whiskey may cloud with ice or water — which is the mouthfeel staying in rather than a fault.
