Highland Park Valfather is the third and final expression in the Highland Park Viking Legend series — an Orkney Islands single malt inspired by Odin, the mightiest of the Norse gods and the Allfather of the Viking pantheon, matured entirely in refill casks and described by Highland Park as their most peated whisky released to date, offering a luxuriously light toasted malt taste with gentle smoky finish and a remarkably complex nose of camphor, peat, citrus, and flowers.

Odin — the Norse god of wisdom, knowledge, sorcery, poetry, and war — is the most powerful and complex figure in the Viking pantheon, and Valfather (Father of the Slain) is one of his many names. Highland Park’s Viking Legend series concludes with Odin after Valkyrie and Valknut, presenting the most intensely peated expression in the series to honour the most powerful of the Norse gods. Matured entirely in refill casks — which provide gentler and less direct oak extraction than first-fill casks — Valfather’s intense peat character is allowed to express itself without competition from aggressive new wood.
