Maker's Mark has been produced at Star Hill Farm in Loretto, Kentucky since 1954 using a wheated mash bill — soft red winter wheat replaces rye as the secondary grain, producing the smoother, rounder, and more approachable character that distinguishes Maker's from high-rye bourbons. The 90-proof bottling is the distillery's standard strength. The 250th anniversary bottle does not change the whiskey; the patriotic red, white, and blue wax is the 1776–2026 milestone's contribution, adding a collector and display dimension to a bottle that remains one of the most recognized Kentucky bourbons in the world.
