Blanton’s Gold Edition Bourbon Whiskey was created for discerning bourbon aficionados who appreciate exceptional smoothness and complexity in their bourbon whiskey.

The nose is first marked by spicy rye and tobacco notes. Caramel and honey follow soon after, mingled with dark fruit and citrus notes. The palate emulates the same complex nose with rye, tobacco, and honey at the forefront. Round and bold notes of charred oak and vanilla carry you through to an extremely long and harmonious finish.

This American bourbon consistently delivers on balance and character, on par with the world’s finest whiskey. Best served neat or with a splash of water. Bottled at 51.5. The Gold Edition Blanton’s Bourbon is distilled from a proprietary sour mash of corn, rye, and malted barley.

TASTING NOTES

Strong vanilla on the nose with dried fruit, dark chocolate, honeyed notes and cereal. The palate is rich with caramel, charred oak and subtle peppery spice. The finish is lingering and pleasantly sweet like many Buffalo Trace Distillery bourbons.

Excellent Service but Stay Away from Bloopers

Let me start by saying, Wooden Cork is a first class service and I would recommend them second to none if you have to buy bourbon online because you can’t find what you want locally. Therefore, I will always give 5 stars on that alone.

As for the product, you honestly can’t go wrong with Blanton’s at any level. The gold edition is for the more experienced bourbon drinker as the higher alcohol content might make it harder to appreciate for someone who is just getting into it or prefers a light burn.

All that being said, if you’re going to buy Blanton’s you should just buy the full price sealed bottle and stay away from the blooper bottles (broken wax seal). I’m a deal shopper and a gambler so for me, saving $50 was worth the risk but after getting my bottle in, I would say I probably wasted $100 if not all $299.99 plus shipping I spent on it. The issue with these high class bottles that come with a wax seal is that the seal is the only thing keeping the cork sealed tight when it’s not sitting on a shelf so once it goes on it’s side, it’s almost impossible for it to not slowly leak out so I ended up losing 1/4 maybe even 1/3 of the bottle so the value is definitely not there. Again, this is NOT Wooden Cork’s fault even in the slightest, they put a secondary seal on the bottle to try and prevent this and they throughly warn you that is could happen. Moral of the story is simple: even if you’re a gambler like me, just do the smart thing and buy the full priced bottle because $50 isn’t worth losing 1/3 of a spectacular bourbon.
