Under the expert guidance of Head Distiller Adam Hannett, the 14.3 demonstrates the profound influence of high-provenance Islay barley on the Octomore character — the barley kissed by salty sea spray from the Rhinns of Islay in the field, imparting a malty sweetness and true sense of place before distillation. The combined first-fill American whiskey and second-fill wine cask maturation extracts as much character from the oak as possible without overpowering the Islay barley’s terroir contribution.
