Humboldt Distillery Organic Malt Blended Whiskey is produced at Humboldt Distillery in Fortuna, California — a small-town craft distillery drawing on watershed water sourced from the old-growth forests of Humboldt County, home to the world’s tallest trees and one of California’s most pristine wilderness regions.
Founder Abe Stevens is a fifth-generation Humboldt native who graduated from Fortuna High School and went on to the University of Chicago for degrees in chemistry and biochemistry. After a career in pharmaceutical R&D — along with stints as a tournament poker player and real-estate investor — Stevens returned to his hometown to make organic spirits, building Humboldt Distillery around the idea of bottling not only organic liquor but the spirit of the wilderness that surrounds it.
