Hamilton Jamaican Pot Still Blonde Aged Rum. Worthy Park Estate, Saint Catherine, Jamaica — curated by Ed Hamilton specifically as his perfect Jamaican Daiquiri base, aged 18 months in ex-St. Lucian rum barrels, finished with a marriage of one-year-old Worthy Park light rum, and bottled at 45% ABV with zero added sugar or caramel.

The Blonde is the most carefully engineered expression in Hamilton's Worthy Park lineup — designed from the ground up for one purpose: to be the ideal aged rum base for a Jamaican Daiquiri. Ed Hamilton started with the same Worthy Park pot still distillate used in the Gold and Black, then took a different path. The base rum was diluted to 70% ABV and filled into ex-St. Lucian rum barrels for approximately 18 months of aging. Then, to add complexity and structure, approximately 12% one-year-old light rum from Worthy Park — aged in Jamaica — was blended in and allowed to marry for another six months. In the final month before bottling, the ABV is slowly reduced to 90 proof, then batched and bottled. Not a drop of caramel or sugar is added at any stage.

The result is a rum with the unmistakable Worthy Park character — the banana funk, tropical esters, and dunder-fermentation depth — but softened, integrated, and structured by the barrel time. It sits between the raw funk of the Gold and the heavy color of the Black: the most refined Hamilton Worthy Park expression and the one designed for mixing applications where nuance matters.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Creamy Worthy Park banana funk with vanilla and tropical fruit. The barrel time integrates the esters into a rounder, softer presentation than the unaged Gold. Coconut, light floral notes, and a subtle grassy cane quality.
  • Palate: Creamy and smooth with good texture. Overripe banana softened by barrel integration, light butterscotch, fresh tropical fruit, and a mild grassy freshness from the light rum component. Balanced and cocktail-ready.
  • Finish: Medium, clean, and lightly funky. The banana and tropical ester character lingers gently without the rawness of the unaged expressions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the Hamilton Jamaican Pot Still Blonde designed for? Ed Hamilton created it specifically as his ideal Jamaican Daiquiri base — a rum with Worthy Park's signature tropical funk and banana character, but softened and integrated by barrel aging so the nuances read clearly in a cocktail rather than being overwhelmed by raw ester intensity.
  • Why ex-St. Lucian rum barrels? Ex-rum barrels from St. Lucia impart a gentler, more neutral barrel influence than ex-bourbon barrels (which add strong vanilla and caramel) or ex-sherry casks (which add fruit and oxidation). The goal is light integration of the Worthy Park character without significantly altering the rum's flavor — letting the distillate speak.
  • How does it differ from the Gold? Both use the same Worthy Park pot still base. The Gold is essentially unaged and lighter in color; the Blonde has 18 months of barrel time plus the additional Worthy Park light rum marriage. The result is more integration, softer presentation, and better cocktail structure in the Blonde.
  • Does it have added sugar? No — zero added sugar, zero caramel coloring, zero sweeteners. The blonde color comes entirely from the barrel aging.
  • What cocktails work best with the Blonde? Jamaican Daiquiri is the intended use — rum, lime, and sugar where the Worthy Park funk shines clearly. Also excellent in a Mai Tai, El Floridita, or any classic calling for aged Jamaican rum where lighter funk is preferred over the more intense Black.
