Created in partnership with the Chicago Rabbinical Council (cRc), Buffalo Trace's Kosher Rye Recipe is part of a kosher whiskey program the distillery launched in 2010, with its first expressions released in 2020. It uses the same high-quality grains as Buffalo Trace's bourbon, aged seven years in kosher barrels, with special care taken so the whiskey never comes into contact with non-kosher spirits. The Rye Recipe expression is released once a year, after Passover. Buffalo Trace Distillery — the oldest continuously operating distillery in the United States — carries the legacies of master distillers including E.H. Taylor, Jr., George T. Stagg, and Albert B. Blanton on the same grounds it has occupied for over 200 years.
