Bonanza 'The Vinekeeper' is a new Cabernet Sauvignon from the family behind the esteemed Caymus winery, inspired by vineyard sites that merit greater attention. This inaugural vintage is sourced from Napa Valley, famed for its ideal conditions for growing Cabernet. The Bonanza idea aims to produce delicious Cabernet from a wide range of places in California, showcasing the exciting potential for high-quality wine.
Tasting Notes & Style
Experience a beautifully balanced, rich, fruit-driven, and ripe Cabernet. The wine presents scents and flavors of pomace, oak, and cocoa powder, layered with a subtle hint of cinnamon spice. It has a brightness with firm acidity and is defined by fine tannins that provide a textural feel on the palate.
The Vinekeeper Story
The wine's name, 'The Vinekeeper,' honors the generations of family members dedicated to farming and winemaking, whose livelihoods came from the land and who passed their skills on to their children and grandchildren.
The family operation, started in 1972 by Chuck Wagner and his late parents, became one of Napa Valley's most renowned wineries for its Cabernet—Caymus. Today, owner/winemaker Chuck Wagner oversees the family business with the next generation of winemakers, siblings Charlie and Jenny Wagner, producing Caymus, Bonanza, and other diverse wines. As Chuck Wagner notes, "The Vinekeeper stems from exploration and an ongoing passion for producing this varietal".
