Beefeater London Dry Gin. Beefeater Distillery, London — the world's most awarded gin, distilled continuously in London since 1863 using an unchanged 9-botanical recipe.

Few gins can claim the heritage and consistency of Beefeater. Founded by James Burrough in London in 1863, it remains one of the only major gin brands still distilled within the city of London, at the Kennington distillery. The recipe — nine botanicals steeped for a full 24 hours before a slow, seven-hour pot still distillation — has never changed. Tuscan juniper, Seville orange peel, Spanish lemon peel, coriander, angelica root, angelica seeds, orris root, licorice root, and Spanish bitter almonds. That's it. No shortcuts, no shortcuts.

What Beefeater delivers is the definitive London Dry profile: juniper-forward, citrus-bright, dry, and assertive enough to hold its own in any cocktail. It's the gin that professional bartenders have voted their favorite in industry polls, and for good reason — it performs consistently across every application from a bone-dry Martini to a Negroni to a simple G&T.

At 47% ABV in the US, Beefeater has slightly more backbone than many competitors, giving it better integration in spirit-forward cocktails without becoming overpowering when mixed.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Bright and robust — fresh pine juniper upfront with strong citrus from Seville orange and lemon peel, subtle licorice and angelica in the background.
  • Palate: Juniper leads with earthy, piney depth. Citrus blooms at mid-palate alongside gentle coriander spice and a touch of almond sweetness.
  • Finish: Clean and medium-length. Coriander and angelica carry through to a pleasantly warm, slightly peppery close.
