Laphroaig 10 Years Old Sherry Oak joins core line
Beam Suntory has taken Laphroaig 10 Years Old and finished the Scotch whisky in oloroso Sherry casks to create a new addition for the brand’s core range.
Laphroaig 10 Years Old Sherry Oak was matured in refill oloroso Sherry and American oak ex-Bourbon casks, before spending 12 to 18 months in European oak oloroso Sherry casks. The Islay-made single malt whisky is said to have note of manuka honey, bacon and maple syrup, combined with smoke, seaweed and a hint of salt. Bottled at 48% ABV, Laphroaig 10 Years Old Sherry Oak will be available from specialist retailers on 12 April, priced at RRP £65 (US$90) per 700ml bottle. John Campbell, Laphroaig distillery manager, said: “We are so excited to announce the release of our unique and premium expression, Sherry Oak, taking our iconic Laphroaig 10 Years Old and finishing it with the sweet flavours of oloroso Sherry cask. “This is a perfect accompaniment to any whisky collection and a celebrated addition to the Laphroaig range.” Last November, Laphroaig launched a new film as part of its Opinions Welcome campaign, which featured consumers tasting the Islay Scotch whisky for the first time. In October 2020, Laphroaig released its second annual limited edition whisky as part of the Ian Hunter Story range.
