GlenDronach unveils 25yo Master Vintage 1993
Highland distillery The GlenDronach has unveiled a limited edition Sherry cask-matured Scotch whisky, called The GlenDronach Master Vintage 1993 Aged 25 Years.
The GlenDronach Master Vintage 1993 Aged 25 Years has been matured in Pedro Ximénez and oloroso Sherry casks from Andalucia in Spain. The whisky is said to have aromas of marzipan, smoked walnut and toasted sultana bread, with flavours of sultana brioche, baked orange rind and prune oil on the palate. The finish is said to taste of cocoa, dates and pecan toffee. Bottled at 48.2% abv without chill filtration or caramel colouring, the whisky will be available from non-US specialist retailers globally from February, ahead of its US launch in October. It has an RRP of £250 (US$326). Dr Rachel Barrie, master blender, said: “With a quarter of a century slowly maturing in our renowned Andalucian casks, The GlenDronach Master Vintage 1993 Aged 25 Years has developed profound layers of depth and complexity, leading to an exceedingly long, voluptuous and memorable finish. “Fans of The GlenDronach’s traditional Highland single malt can expect rich brandy-laced fruitcake on the nose, coca-dusted coffee and sultana brioche on the palate, and lingering pecan toffee notes in the finish.”
