GlenDronach is a Highland single malt distillery in Forgue, Aberdeenshire, founded in 1826 and producing exclusively sherry cask-matured whisky — primarily Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso — for some of Scotland’s most richly flavored and celebrated single malts. The house style is full-bodied, dark-fruited, and warming, with the sherry cask influence more pronounced than at virtually any other major distillery.
GlenDronach was acquired by BenRiach Distillery Company in 2008 under master distiller Billy Walker, who oversaw a renaissance of the brand before selling to Brown-Forman in 2016. The Billy Walker era produced a series of legendary single cask and batch releases that established GlenDronach as a serious collector’s whisky. The current range preserves the house style with the flagship 12 Year, the 15 Year Revival, and the prestige 18 Year and 21 Year expressions.

Exclusively sherry cask maturation — Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso — producing Highland single malts with some of the deepest, richest fruit and chocolate character in Scotch. Founded 1826 in Aberdeenshire. The 12 Year is the accessible entry point; the 18 and 21 Year are collector benchmarks.
No — GlenDronach is an unpeated Highland single malt. The dark color and intense character comes entirely from the sherry cask maturation, not from peat smoke. It is one of the most sherry-forward unpeated Scotch whiskies produced.
Rich dried fruit (raisins, prunes, dates), dark chocolate, Christmas cake spice, toffee, and warming oak. The PX casks add intense sweetness; the Oloroso casks add nuttiness and complexity. The house style is recognizable immediately — dense, sweet, and full-bodied.
