Elijah Craig debuts 15YO single barrel Bourbon

Heaven Hill-owned Elijah Craig has introduced a 15-year-old Bourbon to its higher-ABV single barrel lineup.

The new expression is the first 15-year-old single barrel Bourbon from Elijah Craig. Conor O'Driscoll, master distiller at Heaven Hill Distillery, said: "This release reflects the craftsmanship and tradition that have defined Elijah Craig for generations. "We were looking for exceptional depth and character in our first 15-year-old single barrel Bourbon, and it delivers at a proof that enhances its natural complexity. The result is a bold yet refined whiskey that is approachable enough to be an all-evening sipper." The 15-year-old Bourbon leads with aromas of dark fruit, figs and roses, followed on the palate by notes of roasted nuts, toasted oak, caramelised sugar, and crème brûlée with ginger and cloves. Bottled at an ABV of 54% (108 proof), the expression pays homage to 4 May 1964 – the date when the US Congress officially recognised Bourbon as a distinct US product. This ruling is said to have reinforced the standards that govern Bourbon production, including the requirement that it be aged in new charred oak barrels. According to Heaven Hill, this practice is attributed to Elijah Craig, often referred to as the 'father of Bourbon'. Elijah Craig 15 Year Old Bourbon will be available in 750ml bottles across the US starting this month, with a suggested retail price of US$149.99. Last year, the whiskey brand launched a limited edition to commemorate the Ryder Cup's return to the US.
