Bowmore launches Amazon-exclusive whisky
Beam Suntory-owned Scotch whisky brand Bowmore has launched a 19-year-old single malt available exclusively through online retailer Amazon.
This limited edition whisky has been aged for 19 years in first-fill ex-Chateau Lagrange French oak barriques, the first time this age and cask maturation has been released to the public. Bowmore 19 Year Old French Oak Islay Single Malt is also said to be the first Amazon-exclusive Scotch whisky bottling. David Turner, Bowmore distillery manager, said: “This unique new expression has been patiently aged for 19 years in French oak barriques to impart a richness of flavour that perfectly marries with the gentle peat that has made Bowmore so famous. “It’s the first time we’ve offered a whisky of this age and maturation, we know everyone who buys a bottle will be rewarded with a liquid of exceptional flavour and character.” The new expression is said to offer aromas of candied apple, honey and light peat smoke. On the palate, it presents notes of "rich toffee, wild honey and exotic spices" with a finish of summer fruits and warm peat smoke. Bottled at 48.9% abv, Bowmore 19 Year Old French Oak Islay Single Malt is available in limited quantities from Amazon.com. Whisky fans can pre-order the expression today before its release on 22 October. Earlier this year the distillery released the final whisky in its Vintner’s Trilogy series – an expression double-matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and Port pipes.
