Origen. Extra Añejo. Codigo 1530 — the apex of the Codigo 1530 lineup, presenting 5-year aged highland Jalisco extra añejo tequila finished in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon barrels — the full evolution of the brand's Rosa program applied to the most extensively aged expression in the collection.

Codigo 1530 was founded in 2016 around a distinctive finishing philosophy: applying fine wine barrel finishing to premium tequila. The Rosa expression uses French white oak ex-rosé wine barrels; the Origen uses Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. The Cabernet finishing adds the dark berry, cassis, and structured tannin character of Napa's premier red wine appellation to five years of American oak extra añejo complexity.

'1530' refers to the year the first tequila license was granted in Jalisco by King Charles I of Spain — a historical reference that positions the brand in the tradition of Mexican tequila's earliest legal origins.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the Napa Cabernet barrel finish add to the tequila? Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon barrels carry dark berry (cassis, dried cherry), structured tannin, and the specific oak character from Napa's high-quality wine production. Applied to 5-year extra añejo, the Cabernet finish adds wine complexity that straight oak aging cannot produce.
  • What does 1530 mean in the brand name? The year King Charles I of Spain granted the first license for tequila production in Jalisco — connecting the brand to the earliest legal origins of Mexican tequila production nearly 500 years ago.
