Wild Turkey has been produced at the Lawrenceburg, Kentucky distillery since 1940, defined by a higher rye mashbill (13%), higher entry proof, and longer aging than most competitors — producing bourbon that’s consistently bigger and bolder than the category average. Master Distiller Jimmy Russell has worked at Wild Turkey since 1954, making him the longest-tenured active master distiller in the bourbon industry. His son Eddie Russell joined in 1981 and serves as co-master distiller. Wooden Cork ships the full Wild Turkey lineup nationwide.
Wild Turkey 101 (101 proof, the go-to for Whiskey Sours, Old Fashioneds, and neat sipping). Wild Turkey 81 (81 proof, lighter and more mixable). Russell’s Reserve 10 Year (90 proof, Jimmy and Eddie’s own signature expression). Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel (barrel proof ~110–115 proof, hand-selected and signed by Jimmy or Eddie Russell). Rare Breed (barrel proof blend of 6, 8, and 12-year bourbons, uncut and unfiltered, typically ~116 proof — one of the best barrel proof values in bourbon). Master’s Keep Series (limited annual releases including Cornerstone Rye, Unforgotten, and Revival oloroso sherry cask finish). Wild Turkey 101 was among the first bourbons to push standard proof significantly above 80 when most competitors were moving lower. The higher proof reflects the house philosophy: more flavor, more character, less water. At 101 proof, the bourbon has enough body to stand up in cocktails and enough richness to sip comfortably neat.
Wild Turkey 101 is a consistent blend at 101 proof designed for everyday use. Rare Breed is a barrel proof blend of older bourbons (6, 8, and 12 year), uncut and unfiltered — substantially richer, more complex, and higher proof. Rare Breed is for sipping; 101 is versatile for both sipping and mixing.
