WhistlePig HomeStock FarmStock Rye Crop No. 004. WhistlePig Farm, Shoreham, Vermont — the fourth FarmStock release and WhistlePig's most community-driven expression, crowd-sourced during the 2020 pandemic as thousands of fans blended three whiskey types from home, voted on the final recipe, and created the first crowd-sourced whiskey blended live — a unique 45% rye / 30% wheat / 25% barley blend delivering sweet pipe tobacco, vanilla, and orange zest on the nose with baking spices, toffee, roasted nuts, and a long, spicy finish.

Crop 004 carries a production story unlike any other in the FarmStock series. In spring 2020, WhistlePig gave fans three component whiskeys — a 4-year-old rye, a 5-year-old wheat whiskey, and a 5-year-old barley whiskey — and asked them to blend their own ratios at home, share their results, and vote for the final recipe. The winning blend — 45% rye, 30% wheat, 25% barley — became Crop 004. The "HomeStock" name directly references the pandemic context: blended together, while apart.

The resulting grain composition is the most diverse in the FarmStock series: where Crop 001, 002, and 003 were primarily rye-forward, Crop 004 introduces significant wheat and barley components alongside the rye. The wheat contributes a light, gentle sweetness that balances the rye's natural spice character; the barley adds a malty roundness. The final blend is WhistlePig's most approachable and accessible FarmStock expression — perfect for summer sipping or with food.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Sweet and fruity with pipe tobacco, vanilla, and orange zest. The wheat and barley components create a softer, more accessible aromatic profile than rye-dominant FarmStock releases.
  • Palate: A big hit of baking spices, toffee, roasted nuts, and ripe berries. The multi-grain composition creates a wider flavor spectrum than any single-grain expression achieves.
  • Finish: Long-lasting and spicy. The rye component's natural spice character carries through the finish even at 45% of the blend.
