Extra añejo tequila is aged a minimum of three years in oak barrels — the richest, most complex, and most whiskey-like category in tequila. Extended oak aging builds concentrated vanilla, caramel, dried fruit, and toasted oak character while the best expressions retain the underlying agave identity that separates tequila from other aged spirits.
Extra añejo became an official NOM-recognized category in 2006, establishing the three-year minimum that defines the tier. Expressions range from three years through extended releases at ten, fifteen, and even twenty-five years of age. Browse all tequila at Wooden Cork.
