Woodford Reserve adds to Master’s Collection
Brown-Forman-owned Woodford Reserve has extended its Master’s Collection series with a limited edition high-proof expression.
Woodford Reserve Batch Proof clocks in at 62% ABV, and was created to celebrate the ‘commitment to craftsmanship’ of master distiller Elizabeth McCall and master distiller emeritus Chris Morris. Brown-Forman appointed Elizabeth McCall as Woodford Reserve’s new master distiller in February this year. She said: “The trademark flavours of Woodford Reserve are even more pronounced – and more bold – in this celebrated annual release. It’s a high-proof Bourbon with complex flavours.” On the nose, the liquid presents notes of nutty toasted almonds, cherry, and overripe banana, with hints of oak sprinkled with citrus zest that evolves into lively pepper. Meanwhile, the palate delivers flavours of baking spice, cardamom and pine, with a finish of leather, cedar and vanilla. Retailing for US$129.99, the Batch Proof Bourbon is now available in select US and global markets, and in limited quantities at Woodford Reserve Distillery. The Master's Collection also consists of a limited edition Five-Malt Stouted Mash, which contains flavours of a traditional heavy-style beer; a Chocolate Malted Rye Bourbon, made with a mash bill of 70% corn, 15% chocolate malted rye, and 15% distillers malt; a Maple Wood Finish bottling; an American Select Oak; and Oat Grain Kentucky. The brand was named World Whisky Brand Champion 2021 by The Spirits Business. Last month, Brown-Forman revealed plans to launch a new limited edition Jack Daniel’s bottle to commemorate its partnership with McLaren Racing.
