Wild Thyme Spirits launches bramble gin liqueur

by Owen Bellwood

Colonsay Gin maker Wild Thyme Spirits has expanded its portfolio with the launch of a bramble-flavoured gin liqueur.

Colonsay Gin Bramble Liqueur is described as an “autumnal variation of Wild Thyme Spirits' Colonsay Gin”, which is produced on the Hebridean island of Colonsay. The blackberry-based liqueur derives inspiration from the ancient Scottish tradition of the 'tree calendar', in which the bramble vine represented the month of Muin – or September as it is known today – as this was when bramble fruits would be gathered. To create the bramble liqueur, Colonsay Gin is infused with blackberries that have been hand-foraged from hedgerows across the Scottish island. The resultant spirit is described as a "full-bodied, rich liqueur, with a beautiful distinctive taste, subtle aroma and vibrant colour". Bottled at 20% abv, Colonsay Gin Bramble Liqueur is available in 500ml bottles with an RRP of £20 (US$25).
