White Peak bottles new Wire Works whisky
English whisky producer White Peak Distillery has unveiled its next single malt: Wire Works Whisky Small Batch.
Bottled at 46.2% ABV, the latest expression from the Derbyshire-based distillery is a lightly peated single malt, made from a vatting of American and French oak casks. The liquid was aged entirely in STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) casks, and ex-Bourbon barrels. Tasting notes include sweet popcorn and orchard fruits on the nose, brandy baskets and sandalwood on the palate, leading to a sweet vanilla finish with a hint of nutmeg. Max Vaughan, who co-founded White Peak Distillery with his wife, Claire Vaughan, said: “We were incredibly humbled by the fantastic reaction to our first release of Wire Works Whisky in February and would like to say a big thank you to our various communities of supporters. “Our first bottling sold out much more quickly than we could have ever anticipated, so we’re delighted to be releasing another small batch bottling and we’re looking forward to the exciting plans we have for the rest of 2022 and beyond.” Just over 4,300 bottles of Wire Works Whisky Small Batch will be released on 23 June via the White Peak Distillery online shop. They will also be available to buy in-person from the distillery shop from 24 June. Wire Works Whisky Small Batch will retail for RRP £60 (US$73.60) per 700ml. White Peak debuted its first whisky in February this year: Wire Works Whisky. Only 5,016 bottles of the lightly peated single malt were released, which sold out in a few hours.
