Wemyss launches blended Scotch
Scotland-based Wemyss Malts has produced 3,000 bottles of a small batch blended Scotch whisky, finished in ex-Madeira wine casks.
Named Nectar Grove, the whisky is an ‘adventurous exploration’ of flavour. The liquid is a blend of single malts filled into hand-selected ex-Madeira wine casks. Isabella Wemyss, production director at Wemyss Malts, said: “At Wemyss Malts, we’re passionate about our meticulous approach to cask selection and blending. We go far beyond the familiar territories of region, age and finish.” The whisky boasts aromas of sunbaked peaches, dried apricot and succulent nectarines on the nose, while the palate presents orange oil, sumptuous rich vanilla and caramelised sugar. The finish rounds off with spices, toasted saffron and crystallised ginger. Wemyss continued: “We always strive to create exceptional Scotch whiskies that leave a rich and lasting impression and believe Nectar Grove does just that. "We’ve spent years expertly selecting the finest single malts from Scotland’s dynamic regions to create a portfolio of beautifully-crafted expressions and Nectar Grove is the latest release in our vivid expression collection – we really hope everyone enjoys it as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.” The 46% ABV bottling is available now through the Wemyss Malts website, for an RRP of £55 (US$68.37). Only 3,000 bottles of Nectar Grove are available, with the majority of the allocation going to the UK, Germany and Canada. In 2021, the brand unveiled six single cask Scotch whiskies, including a 30-year-old bottling from Highland distillery Blair Athol.
