Uncle Nearest launches Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey
The new, lower-proof whiskey from Uncle Nearest was made with approachability and mixability in mind.
Uncle Nearest is launching a new entry-level whiskey that encourages inclusivity and versatility. Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey is bottled at 42% ABV and priced at US$30. The whiskey was designed by master blender Victoria Eady Butler for bartenders and at-home mixologists. “Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey captures the spirit of my great-great-grandfather, Nearest Green, while still upholding our pillars of excellence and making the highest quality whiskeys,” Butler said. “This whiskey is not just about enjoying a great drink; it’s about celebrating his legacy in every pour and bringing people together in a way that honours our past and embraces the future of Tennessee Whiskey.” The new whisky comes in a taller, slimmer bottle but maintains the brand’s standard front label shape. It is available via Reserve Bar starting today (1 October) and will be available at the Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville from 5 October, when founder and CEO Fawn Weaver will be celebrating the release alongside Butler. The whiskey will roll out in bars and retailers later this month. “With the launch of Nearest Green, we are not just expanding our offerings; we are expanding the Uncle Nearest family by reaching new consumers who before may not be looking to spend more than $50 on a bottle,” said chief business officer Katharine Jerkens. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone can learn about and experience the legacy of Nearest Green, and we’re excited to offer a product that invites even more people to celebrate every moment.” News of the release comes on the heels of Weaver’s New York Times best-selling book Love & Whiskey, which chronicles the true story of Nearest Green, who taught Jack Daniel’s how to make whiskey, and how Weaver created and grew the Uncle Nearest brand. To celebrate the launch of Nearest Green Tennessee Whiskey, Uncle Nearest is offering a copy of Love & Whiskey to anyone who buys three bottles, a signed copy to anyone who buys six bottles, and a signed copy plus merchandise to anyone who buys 12 bottles. Weaver founded Uncle Nearest in 2017, and in October 2022, the brand surpassed US$100m in sales. In May 2024, Uncle Nearest surpassed a US$1 billion valuation, becoming the fastest-growing whiskey brand of all time. The Nearest Green Distillery launched its first phase of opening in September 2019, and is currently the seventh-most-visited distillery in the world.
