Ultra-premium Le Tribute Countryside Gin prepares to launch

Oct 10, 2024by Melita Kiely

Destilerías MG has created a limited edition, ultra-premium product – Le Tribute Countryside Luxury Gin.

The flavour profile of Le Tribute Countryside Luxury Gin has been designed to emulate summer evenings in the Spanish countryside of Vilanova I la Geltrú, basked in 38oC heat, surrounded by salty sea air and fragrant lavender fields. Crafted entirely at the family-owned distillery, several distillates of a single botanical are blended to make the expression. Black cardamom is a key botanical in the gin’s recipe, adding spiced, smoky and menthol notes. Lavender and sage are used to balance the cardamom, while lemongrass is distilled in water to preserve its aromatic potential, and add freshness and citrus notes. Only 7,000 bottles of the gin will be released globally on 15 October via select retailers and online via letribute.com. It will come in two formats; a gift box (4,000 units available), and a second gift box complete with two glasses (3,000 units available). The giftbox will retail for €75 (US$82) and the gift box with glasses will be priced at €90 (US$98). Instead of a paper label, the brand has opted for a zamac plate and leather accents around the neck of the bottle. Manu Giró, CEO of Desilerías MG and president of Spirits Europe in 2022 and 2023, commented: “In the rapidly evolving landscape of the spirits industry, we are confident that through innovation, quality and more emotional connections with consumers, we will be able to gain a fair share of the luxury gin segment that starts and will continue to show promise in markets like the USA, France and GTR [global travel retail].” Le Tribute Countryside Luxury Gin is the first batch of a collection of gins that come to market in 2025 and 2026. Destilerías MG sees potential in the higher end of the gin market. The Spanish company noted IWSR Drinks Market Analysis data, which suggested that although the premium gin trend is ‘reversing’ in some markets, global forecasts predict a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1% between 2023 and 2028 for the higher-end of the category. While markets like the UK and Spain are expected to decline, growth could come from the US where above premium outperforms. Furthermore, the super-premium and ultra-premium price brackets are expected to grow at CAGRs of 10% and 12% respectively between 2023 and 2028. Additional European markets were also cited as growth opportunities.
