Twin Fin Rum unveils cream liqueur
Cornwall-based Southwestern Distillery has expanded its Twin Fin Rum range with a blended cream liqueur.
The liqueur blends Jamaican pot still and Dominican Republic column-still rums with fresh double cream. Blended at the brand's distillery on the coast of North Cornwall, the premium liqueur brings forward notes of Cornish clotted cream, caramelised brown sugar, and jammy raspberry. The launch represents the newest innovation from Twin Fin Rum, which was established in 2020 by master distiller Tarquin Leadbetter as a sister brand to Tarquin's Gin. The cream liqueur joins the brand's existing range, which includes spiced rum and a cold brew coffee rum liqueur. Leadbetter commented: "I am so proud of Twin Fin Rum's growth this year. With national availability in Sainsbury's and our recent launches into World Duty Free and Turtle Bay Caribbean Restaurants nationwide, this momentum sets the perfect stage for our release of Twin Fin Cream Rum Liqueur. "Entering the cream liqueur category is particularly exciting given its remarkable growth. In the UK on-trade, cream liqueurs have surged by 30% in value over the past year, making it the only spirit category to grow (CGA by NIQ data). "Driven by a long-term shift in consumption patterns post-pandemic, drinkers are now generally favouring more intimate settings and more relaxed spirits such as cream liqueurs. I knew we could add value to the thriving cream liqueur category with our expertise in flavour innovation and our premium positioning." The recipe for the liqueur took a year to perfect. The 'rich, luxurious mouthfeel' makes it suitable for sipping and cocktails such as Espresso Martini and Baby Guinness, as well as gifting. Leadbetter added: "The feedback since launch has been amazing. We sold out of our first batch of Twin Fin Cream Liqueur online in just days." Offered at 17% ABV, it is available on the brand's website, Twin Fin Shop and Tarquin's Gin Shops at £26 (US$32) for a 700ml bottle, as well as at select restaurants, pubs, and independent retailers. In addition to gin and rum, Southwestern Distillery also produces a range of vodkas under the Connie Glaze name. Last month, the distillery entered the alcohol-free category with the launch of Tarquin’s Cornish Dry Non-Alcoholic Spirit.
