Tomintoul launches 45-year-old single malt Scotch
Angus Dundee Distillers has released just 218 bottles of a 45-year-old Tomintoul single malt priced at £1,990 (US$2,626) – Tomintoul Vintage 1973 Double Wood Matured.
The single malt was aged for more than three decades in white oak American casks before being further matured in oloroso Sherry casks. The whisky is said to have aromas of orange citrus and Christmas pudding, leading to nuts, chocolate, mocha coffee bean and spicy oak tannins on the palate, with a dry and spicy finish. Bottled at 44.5% abv, Tomintoul Vintage 1973 will be made available in select European and Asian markets. Almost two years ago, Tomintoul released 500 bottles of a 40-year-old quadruple-cask single malt, priced at £2,500.
