Tomatin swaps 1988 vintage for 30-year-old
Highland distillery Tomatin has replaced its 1988 vintage with a 30-year-old expression in its core range of single malt Scotch whiskies.
Matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, the whisky will be released in batches and feature individually numbered bottles. It will be presented in oak boxes and carrying cases. “Our core range has a wide breadth of whiskies and we expect the 30 Year Old will prove very popular with our customers who are looking for something premium and luxurious, and recognisably Tomatin,” said Jennifer Masson, marketing manager for Tomatin. Tomatin 30 Year Old is said to have an aroma of soft fruits, golden honey and white chocolate. On the palate it offers notes of “tropical fruits and creamy buttered vanilla [that] mingle in an explosion of sensational mixed spices”. The expression is bottled at 46% abv and has an RRP of £300 (US$449). Earlier this month, Tomatin unveiled two new vintages in its Cù Bòcan line of single malts.
