Tequila Enemigo eyes US market

Luxury Tequila brand Enemigo has set its sights on international expansion and will soon launch stateside.

The UK-based company has teamed up with importer MHW to facilitate its move into New York. Since launching in December 2017, Tequila Enemigo is now available in 75 venues across London, including high-end location such as Annabel’s, The Arts Club, The Connaught, Street XO and 5 Hertford Street. According to the brand, a serve of Tequila Enemigo is on average drunk every one minute 30 seconds during London’s drinking hours, from 4pm to 4am. In January 2018 the company concluded a series A investment round, which valued the company at US$5 million. A series B investment round in December 2018 is expected to to value the company at US$15m-US$20m The founders of the brand are Robin Clough, Max Davies-Gilbert and Sebastian Gonzalez – who at 28 years old are thought to be the youngest heads of an international luxury spirits brand. In order to facilitate the expansion into the US, the board of directors appointed Clough as CEO and Davies-Gilbert as managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
