Teeling unveils St Patrick’s Day whiskey

Dublin-based Teeling has released a distillery-exclusive Irish whiskey to celebrate St Patrick’s Day (17 March) – Teeling Whiskey Distillery Exclusive Irish Virgin Oak.

The whiskey aimed to explore the impact Irish virgin oak would have on the brand’s Small Batch Teeling Whiskey. The use of Irish virgin oak was said to have created a ‘distinctively different rich cream and honey’ flavour. Tasting notes include aromas of coffee, cacao and citrus peel leading to flavours of vanilla, caramel and oak spice. The finish is said to feature black peppercorns, cloves, oak tannins and vanilla. Jack Teeling, founder and managing director of Teeling, said: “St Patrick’s Day normally marks the start of the traditional visitor season in Dublin and the Teeling Whiskey Distillery. “Given the unique challenges of 2021 we wanted to do something that would allow people to celebrate St Patrick’s Day with a very unique bottle of our distillery-exclusive whiskey. “For our national holiday, we specifically chose Teeling whiskey aged in virgin Irish oak barrels to celebrate all things Irish and the unique influence Irish oak has imparted on our whiskey.” Bottled at 46% without chill-filtration or caramel colouring, Teeling Whiskey Distillery Exclusive Irish Virgin Oak is available exclusively from the distillery’s online shop priced at RRP €60 per 700ml bottle, packaged in a gift tin. The bottle will be available to buy from the distillery when it is allowed to reopen in accordance with Covid-19 government measures. Last month, Teeling extended its Renaissance series with an 18-year-old single malt finished in ex-Muscat wine casks.
