Ian Macleod Distillers has released a gift collection of three miniature Tamdhu whiskies. The gift set of 50ml bottlings from the Speyside single malt producer comprise three Sherry-matured whiskies: the 12 Year Old, the 15 Year Old, and the Batch Strength 005. The Scotch whisky brand claims to be the only distillery to mature its whole range of whisky exclusively in oloroso Sherry-seasoned casks, with each expression in the gift set presenting a 'deep copper hue' and 'complex' flavours. The Tamdhu 12 Year Old delivers notes of iced cinnamon rolls, orange boiled sweets and sweet oak with raisins on the nose, with a 'silky' palate of jam and banana. The finish is 'long and balanced', featuring a 'wisp of peat smoke', and the bottling sits at 43% ABV. The 15 Year Old includes flavours of orange zest and apple pastry on the nose, with a palate of apricot and raspberry. Resting at an ABV of 46%, the expression's finish contains notes of malt biscuit and vanilla. Finally, the Batch Strength 005 features cinnamon spice and roasted brazil nuts on the nose, with a double-cream palate cut through with the sharpness of summer berries. Featuring the highest ABV in the gift set, the Batch No. 005 sits at 59.8%. The Tamdhu 3x5cl Gift Pack can be purchased from the distillery's online shop, tamdhu.com, for an RRP of £27.99 (US$38.79). Last month, Taiwanese whisky producer Kavalan also revealed a whisky gift set – an exclusive series inspired by the country’s exotic animal species.
