Stranger & Sons launches Filtr Martini
Indian producer Stranger & Sons has partnered with Subko Coffee House to create a small-batch ready-to-drink (RTD) Filtr Martini.
The Filtr Martini is inspired by South Indian Filter Coffee and its Kaapi ritual, which involves measuring froth heights and perfecting throw lengths to get the 'perfect' foam for coffee cups at Udupi Darshinis. The RTD cocktail reimagines the traditional Espresso Martini by blending speciality coffee and Stranger & Sons gin. Rahul Mehra, CEO and co-founder of Third Eye Distillery, said: “We’ve always been serious about cocktails; our past innovations have been testaments of the same. In a world where the classic Espresso Martini has become predictable, we're breaking the mould and taking inspiration from the coveted and humble filter coffee – a staple in Udupi Darshinis, and elevating the classic cocktail to its deserved pedestal. "Our fascination with Subko’s diverse selection of Indian-grown coffee led us to craft a ready-to-drink cocktail experience like no other – one that stands as the best you’ll find.” To enjoy the cocktail at its best, Filtr Martini is recommended shaken well with ice to create a frothy layer and topped with the vanilla garnish spray provided with the bottle. Rahul Reddy, founder of Subko Coffee, said: "We have been quite elated to have the privilege of transforming and coalescing three worlds together with the Filtr project. Alongside the illustrious Stranger & Sons team, we have been able to work on a meticulously sourced and roasted speciality coffee endeavour combined with a traditional South Indian filter coffee avatar and best-in-class craft gin distilling. "All of that has been enveloped and wrapped around a testament to the Subcontinent and its provenance. We feel this bottle is a beautiful testament to how craft can be expressed through both coffee and spirits simultaneously." The Filtr Martini is currently available only in Goa and Maharashtra, in India, with Bangalore and Gurgaon forthcoming. It is the second release from Stranger & Sons’ ‘in cahoots series’, the first one being Perry Road Peru – India’s first RTD cocktail crafted in collaboration with The Bombay Canteen and made with fresh pink guavas. Stranger & Sons is a contemporary-style Indian Gin, the debut spirit from Third Eye Distillery in Goa, founded in 2018 by Rahul Mehra, Sakshi Saigal, and Vidur Gupta. Earlier this year, the brand bottled Aer Gin exclusively for the Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai. At The Gin Masters 2024 - First Tasting, Stranger & Sons Gin was recognised with a Gold medal.
