Seven Giants releases non-alcoholic ‘Tequila’

Aug 23, 2023by Georgie Collins

Scottish non-alcoholic drinks producer Spirits of Virtue has launched a range of Tequila alternatives in response to the sector’s ‘rapid growth’.

The Seven Giants alcohol-free agave range comprises three blends: blanco, reposado and añejo, all of which are presented at 0% ABV. Spirits of Virtue collaborated with a drinks expert to create the non-alcoholic ‘spirits’, which are said to ‘closely replicate’ the styles of their alcoholic counterparts. The brand’s key messages centre around provenance and authenticity. The three expressions boast a combination of organic Mexican blue agave, Texan honey, and other natural flavourings, including Indian black pepper. Each expression is low in calories and sugar, vegan, gluten-free and Halal-certified. The Seven Giants range comes in 90% recyclable custom glass bottles, designed to present the agave plant, topped with a cantina-style wooden closure. Seven Giants joins Sprits of Virtue’s portfolio of non-alcoholic ‘spirits’, which includes Glen Dochus, a 0% ABV substitute for Scotch; Usko ‘vodka’; 270º Botanicals, a Caribbean non-alcoholic cane 'spirit' that is available in multiple flavours; and Sobour, a rye-style ‘Bourbon’. Each bottle is offered at RRP £21.99 (US$28). IWSR Drinks Market Analysis reported that Tequila overtook American whiskey last year to become the second most valuable spirit category in the US. Furthermore, figures from the Distilled Spirits Council of the US revealed Tequila and mezcal’s revenue rose to US$6 billion last year – up by 17.2%. Fact.MR’s analysis estimates that the global non-alcoholic ‘spirits’ sector will be worth US$271bn by 2033. Meanwhile data from the IWSR revealed non-alcoholic ‘spirits’ volume climbed by 38% in the UK last year.
