Scrappy’s Bitters maker launches canned cocktails
The founder of Scrappy’s Bitters has created a collection of canned cocktails, including expressions such as the Bramble, Daiquiri and Paloma.
Created by Seattle bartender Miles Thomas, Half-Seas Sparkling Cocktails, as the collection is called, is inspired by a sailor’s term from the 1700s – ‘half-seas over’ – which is said to have derived from the idea of a heavy-laden ship that is so low in the water that small waves (or half-seas) wash over the deck. The Half-Seas Bramble is made using London Dry gin, berries and citrus while the Daiquiri comprises rum, water, lime and sugar. Meanwhile the Tequila-based Paloma is made using Half-Seas own grapefruit soda. Available to purchase in the US, each cocktail has an abv of 12% and will retail at an RRP of US$16-20 per pack of four.
