US drinks firm Sazerac has launched a luxury rum brand consisting of three limited edition bottlings from Trinidad, Guyana and Barbados.

Jung and Wulff is making its UK debut through distributor Hi-Spirits, with each bottle's label designed to reflect the rum’s origins. Trinidad No.1, Guyana No.2 and Barbados No.3 have all been bottled at 43% ABV. The blends are a mix of pot and column-distilled rums, made from molasses and aged up to 15 years. Tasting notes for Trinidad No.1 include spices and vegetal, earthy notes. Guyana No.2 is said to have a ‘rich and creamy texture’ with roasted, bittersweet flavours and a smoky, grassy finish. Completing the initial line-up is Barbados No.3, which is described as being full-bodied with dark chocolate, dried fruits and burnt sugar flavours. The brand was inspired by LE Jung and Frederick Wulff, pioneers of the spirits industry. The rums were blended by Sazerac’s master blender, Drew Mayville. “Jung and Wulff were early importers of rum, distributing to cafés and bars across New Orleans and beyond,” said Liam Sparks, bond and royal portfolio manager, Hi-Spirits. “These rums are a testament to them, for their ongoing quest to acquire and distribute fine spirits. “Strictly limited, our Jung and Wulff rums celebrate three influential places: Trinidad, Guyana and Barbados. I believe these rums are a true interpretation of each island’s style and brilliantly showcases the different terroirs that are available throughout the Caribbean.” Jung and Wulff rums are available from Hedonism, Harvey Nichols and Master of Malt in the UK, priced at RRP £39.99 (US$56) per 700ml bottle.
