Redbreast brings Cuatro Barriles Edition to GTR
The new whiskey is the second permanent expression in the brand’s Iberian Series.
Redbreast has added to its Iberian Series with Cuatro Barriles Edition, a single pot still Irish whiskey blended from four different cask types – ex-Bourbon, oloroso Sherry butts, Portuguese tawny Port hogsheads, and European virgin oak. The new whiskey is a global travel retail exclusive, available at Dublin and Cork duty free. Cuatro Barriles Edition is the second permanent addition and fourth expression overall in the Iberian Series, following the limited release of Tawny Port Cask in September 2023. The Iberian Series pays homage to Redbreast’s long-standing connection to celebrated cooperages and winemakers in Spain and Portugal. “There’s a profound joy in creating a whiskey that mirrors the vibrant journey taken to create it, so I am delighted that the flavour of the final liquid is reminiscent of our travels, encapsulating each encounter, all of which have played a pivotal role in shaping the Redbreast Iberian Series to this day,” said master blender Dave McCabe. “Redbreast Cuatro Barriles Edition is a harmonious whiskey, echoing the diversity and richness of the outstanding barrels we have found across the Iberian Peninsula.” Redbreast Cuatro Barriles Edition is bottled at 46% ABV and priced at €108 (US$117). The whiskey showcases ‘sweet spices, delicate wine tannins, dark berry notes, and subtle oak tones’ on the palate. The ex-Bourbon barrels and oloroso Sherry butts are the cornerstone of the whiskey, with the latter lending notes of ‘dried fruits, orange peels, and nutty undertones’. The tawny Port-seasoned casks contribute hints of ‘smoked almonds, praline and dark berry fruits’. The virgin oak casks lend structure and body to the mouthfeel. Redbreast is produced by Irish Distillers at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland. The Cuatro Barriles Edition is exclusive to Ireland travel retail, honouring the brand’s flagship home.
