Rampur debuts spiced saffron liqueur
Radico Khaitan-owned Rampur Distillery has launched the first expression in its Ankahi liqueur series, Zaffran Spiced.
Released at ProWein this week (16-18 March), the new liqueur series from Rampur is said to embody 'the spirit of discovery, unveiling India's hidden herbal treasures'. Sanjeev Banga, president of international business at Radico Khaitan, said: "Our vision is to take India to the world and share the hidden and forgotten gems of India with the global audience. Ankahi Zaffran Spiced Liqueur is a step in this direction. It represents the fusion of India's heritage and the artistry of liqueur-making. "The introduction of this exceptional product at ProWein 2025 marks a significant moment for Radico Khaitan. We are thrilled to share this unique creation with the world, reflecting our commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability while offering global consumers an authentic taste of India." The first release in the series, Ankahi Zaffran Spiced Liqueur, honours Kashmir's golden saffron fields. The liqueur is made with saffron and 21 handpicked herbs like clove, cardamom, cinnamon, star anise, and coriander. Zaffran Spiced is offered at 35% ABV and will be available in two sizes: a one-litre bottle for global travel retail and a 700ml bottle for the global market. Shipments are set to begin in April 2025, with distribution in key markets across the US, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East. Kunal Madan, senior vice president of international business at Radico Khaitan, commented: "Ankahi Zaffran Spiced Liqueur is a celebration of India's rich heritage and botanical legacy. We've carefully crafted this exceptional liqueur to offer a distinctive sensory experience that embodies the untold stories of India. "Ankahi is more than just a drink – it's a journey through the vibrant culture and ancient traditions of India, now brought to life for the world to discover." In May 2024, Radico Khaitan partnered with Danish distribution platform Bemakers to enhance its European presence. Last year, Rampur debuted a Shiraz wine cask-aged single malt, Barrel Blush, in the UK.
